For industry specialists, color is not just a detail—it determines quality, consistency and reputation. Yet in many companies it still proves difficult: color choices are based on experience, color quality is difficult to transfer between teams, and professionals often lack a clear framework to make and explain substantiated color choices.
Since 1976, the Netherlands Color Institute has been developing answers to such questions. What started as consultancy in the field of color technology and color formulation, grew into an independent knowledge platform with decades of experience in paint factories, textile companies, food, construction and healthcare. Now we bring that expertise together in a complete, practice-oriented learning path for professionals.
The path consists of three consecutive modules that you build up step by step:
QC employees, lab technicians and purchasing staff learn how color is created, how the eye works, how to work with colorimeters and spectrophotometers, and how to reliably assess color differences—both visually and instrumentally. This is where consistency begins.
You learn to read the reflection curve, understand pigments, mix complementary colors, and how to use K/S software and the eye together. This level makes you a color maker rather than just an assessor.
Not chemical, but practical: which pigment do you choose for which application? How do you predict behavior, stability and costs? How do you build a reliable formulation system?
Each level builds on the previous one. You start where it fits your role and grow through it, or you step in at the level you need.
This is not theoretical education. It is bundled from fifty years of experience in real production problems:
For companies this means: no more ad-hoc color choices, but consistent work according to the same logic. Teams speak the same language. Decisions are traceable and reproducible.
We offer two paths:
In-company — training at your location, tailored to your production problems, materials and environment. Ideal for teams or specific issues. From 4 participants.
Open enrollment — individual participation on scheduled dates. You work with professionals from various sectors.
